A More Precious Gift

Have you been wondering to get your child for Christmas? We keep holiday gift giving simple in our family. We try to make sure Michelle (and each other) has what she needs throughout the year and keep holiday gifts simple and affordable – within our budget. So I was intrigued by some of the most expensive toys that I found available for the Christmas holiday shopping.

Just in case your kids don’t get enough stimulation these days, an aviation-quality 3D Motion Simulator is available, for ages 6 and up. It seats eight for CD-ROM-driven excitement, including space trips, roller coasters, slot car races, cool–if not downright chilly–glacier adventures and more. It comes with a fully digital audio-visual system and ergonomic styling for a comfortable and super-thrilling ride. This “ride” will only set you back $300,000. Too expensive and big? Surely you can find room in your garage for a Ferrari…for your kids. This gasoline-powered “go-cart” is just the right hot rod for the junior set, with a 7-foot-long fiberglass body, rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel disc brakes, three-speed transmission (including reverse), rubber tires and full suspension. Leather seats are lusciously comfortable, and horns, lights and signals all work. So, too, does the stereo radio and tape deck, which can also be outfitted with a CD player. Tops out at 15 mph,. Only $50,000. Still too expensive? How about that old favorite, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head? A gem-encrusted and signed set is are only 8 1/2 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 5 inches in diameter, but it still takes more than 40 hours to cover each one by hand with more than 23,000 Swarovski crystals in 14 different colors. Accessories such as Mrs. P’s handbag and Mr. P’s ears are also shimmering with jewels. It comes in a gift box for only $8,000.

These were just a few of the “most expensive Christmas gifts” I found on the Internet. Friend, I’m so glad we can offer our children gifts more precious, and that have eternal value. Gifts such as Sabbath School and Church, Vacation Bible School, Adventurers, Pathfinders, and a Christian education in our Church School. Praise God for the dedicated people who make these gifts possible and available to our children! These gifts also come with a price, including our time, but I’m going to stick with them because they are priceless in their eternal value. These are the gifts that lead our children towards Jesus and His kingdom. Oh yes, Michelle will also receive a few others that will stay within the budget, but I trust she will learn to appreciate the others the most and if Jesus doesn’t come soon, will make them the gifts of choice for her children.

God’s blessings this holiday season as you consider the precious gifts to give your child,
Pastor Michael Wise
